Great program! Importing my gedcoms couldnt have easier! It includes all the features necessary for research. I cant imagine anyone rating this less than 4 stars! The best family tree app Ive seen!

Just downloaded upgrade and lost ALL data from former Gedview. Not happy.

Just purchased this app and cant believe how easy it was to get my data uploaded. Very intuitive. The interface is great - simple to navigate and find what I want. Also love that it will display a fajita group sheet.

I researched many genealogy apps, but this was the only one I could find that not only read .ged files, but allowed editing and wireless syncing. I use Personal Ancestral File on my PC, so I needed something that wasnt a "front end" to a specific program or tied to a website. This fits the bill and handles a 16+ MB .ged file with 500MB of multimedia attachments with no probs. I was disappointed at first because I thought the app wouldnt accept marriage events, but I wrote the developer - who replied in less than a day - and he pointed out that the functionality was on the family page. My first app review, but I felt compelled to submit it. Highly recommended.

Works great with Reunion 9 for Mac. Doesnt import photos, or have fancy interface but the program works great.

Too many bugs. Just deleted it after spending $4 to download it. Disappointing.

I didnt find it useful and it was a waste of my money. Ill stick with ancestry

I want to refute the low scores that some customers have given. I have been using this app for almost a year and it has worked very well. I am running it on a 2nd Gen iPod Touch. I have been doing genealogy research for about 45 years and it is a real help for me to have a mobile capability like this. I keep my primary databases on Personal Ancestry File (PAF) and the GEDCOM files that it generates are opened correctly by this app. I am pleased, and the price is great. I wrote directly to the developer with a suggestion for an enhancement regarding display of GEDCOM Sources and was pleasantly surprised when he responded with thanks the next day. I give it five stars for functional value for the price.

For many years I have been maintaining family trees using Generations Deluxe 6 Windows software. Initially, I used MyRoots to keep the information on my Palm, but after migrating to an iPOD Touch and iPAD, found this app. Its very easy to use. Just export a GEDCOM file (mine is GEDCOM 5.5) and transfer to device over WiFi - no iTunes is required. Multiple Family Trees can be imported into app - just use a unique name for each separate tree. GED files can be reimported into app and will overwrite existing file. There is an extensive User Guide on the website. Great app.

Does not upload GEDCOM files in any of the various ways that it says it does. And there is no technical support. And there are no refunds. Dont make the same mistake I did by purchasing it. Now, a couple of weeks later and win some update from the author, it WORKS! It is great! Thanks David.

Is it perfect? Probably not, but Ive found nothing better. If you check the manual, does exactly what it promises. From a wish list point of view, I would prefer that Events & Facts were chronologically sorted, rather than separately.

I have used this for 5 years. Originally it was just a viewer, but extremely handy to have my family history information with me all the time. It does a lot more now, including being able to add information. Those who rated it low must not understand what it is for, and failed to take the time to figure it out. Their loss.

I am impressed with this app. It imported my file with over 4000 records quickly and without any issues. It does need a few tweeks that I hope will be fixed over time, but so far I am very satisfied with this app.

This is a high performing family history mobile software, that is much more than a viewer. I converted a FTM 2006 version 16 file running on Windows XP to a GED format, and transferred it to an iPAD 2 wireless via a Windows 7 based wireless laptop. This used the "upload to device" wireless server method built into GedView. No problems. My file is a text only format with a large number of notes, and it all transferred. GedView appears to have all of the editing/revision tools that would be needed to maintain a working family history. I have only taken a quick look at the family tree graphs, and the traditional genealogical display seems limited to a "pedigree" chart, and this is generation limited. This is noted in the user manual as having a memory constrained limit. Perhaps an iPad is less memory constrained than some of the other portable devices, and could have a more graphic features version. Thanks for this great app and its very reasonable pricing.

Does what it claims. Its a snap to import your GED format file, view and edit information, add photos and videos, generate pedigree and descendant charts... Its a great tool.

Admittedly, I havent used many, but GEDview does what I need. I can carry my GED data with me, update and add records, and its pretty easy to use. I can even add photos and take notes while in the field. Works offline, which is important. Imports GED files easily. What more do you need? :-)

Imported a GEDCOM file -- received as an email attachment -- to my iPad Mini using GedView, then exported to my Geneanet genealogy account. All transfers went immediately and flawlessly. My family tree is now on the web!

This program met all of my expectations EXCEPT I now find out that I cannot print out the descendant or pedigree charts. This is very important to be able to distribute this information to others in the family who do not have a computer.
